The Bottom Line About Breakfast and Your Weight

So, what is the big deal about whether or not you eat breakfast?  Is is really that important?  If you are trying to lose weight or maintain your healthy weight, skipping breakfast is NOT an option.  Here's why: Research indicates that people that eat breakfast consume fewer calories throughout the day.  Allowing yourself to get to "extreme hunger" can lead to poor choices later in the day.  Skipping any meal can increase your body's insulin response which facilitates fat storage and weight gain.  I am pretty sure that we all want to avoid fat storage!  Breakfast sets the tone for the rest of the day.  If you start off the day with a healthy breakfast, you are much more likely to make healthier choices the rest of the day.  Plan for breakfast every day.  It does not take much time to grab a Greek yogurt and sprinkle fruit, healthy granola and/or fruit on top.  Also, check out my high protein pancake recipe on this website.  They are easy and can be made ahead of time.  Another time saver is to boil eggs ahead of time.  Healthy freezer options include Morning Star Farms breakfast sausage, Special K breakfast sandwiches and Jimmy Dean Delights breakfast sandwiches.

Diets Don't Work!

If we put as much time and energy into our long-term weight management goals as we do into “quick-fix, fad diets” we would all be successful!
