Healthy Super Bowl Sunday

Superbowl Sunday is right around the corner!  You can still enjoy yourself without making it a total bust.  Here are some tips that you can follow to stay in control of your healthy lifestyle:
1. Bring a healthy dish
2. Do not arrive hungry.  Grab a light snack before you go.  (Greek yogurt, fruit/1Tbsp nut butter).
3. Substitute plain Greek yogurt for mayonnaise and sour cream in recipes.
4. Keep the alcohol to a bare minimum.  The less you drink, the less laxed you will be about food choices.
5. Watch your portions.
6. If you don't love it, don't eat it.  Just remember:  If you are going to splurge, you better LOVE it!
7. Sip on water all throughout the gathering.  This helps you stay full and also occupies your hands.
8. Think outside the box.  Use vegetables for dipping and leafy greens for wrapping.  Fresh zucchini and colored peppers cut into sticks are always a hit.
9. Have fun without the Monday morning guilt!
10. Favorite wraps are the "Rudi's" brand.  They offer a variety of flavors and are super-healthy (Whole Foods).
11. Plan, plan and plan some more.  Don't assume you will be in control.  Just remember:  Will power is overrated without a plan.
I love the dips that I have pictured here.  The "hope hummus" is high in flavor but low in calories.  Try to stick with a hummus that is about 40 calories for 2 TBSP.  The Thai Coconut Curry and Jalapeno Cilantro both meet those requirements.  Both can be found at Whole Foods. I love the "Trader Joe's Guacamame".  Great flavor and less fat than regular guacamole.  The OPA Greek dressing has a nice dill and feta flavor.  This is great for dipping vegetables and in lettuce or tortilla wraps.  You've got this!

Diets Don't Work!

If we put as much time and energy into our long-term weight management goals as we do into “quick-fix, fad diets” we would all be successful!
